Nozzle offset calibration failed (H2D)

Hey Folks,

I get an error about the nozzle offset calibration failing.

It seemed to me as if there was some stuck filament on the sensor, so I removed if.
But it seems, that I removed some “sticker” or something similar from the sensor.

See the “blank” sensor in the picture.

Failing keeps happening now all the time when calibrating the nozzle offset.

Anyone knows if this (missing “sticker” thingy) might be the reason for failing?
Do I really need to replace the whole nozzle offset sensor thingy, even when just the “sticker” is off?
(UInfortunately this part is also not in stock at the moment… :frowning: )

I’m not clear when I read the Wiki - and the pictures of the replacement part are not that eye opening to me either.

And ideas?

Don’t own an H2D and this is all speculation on my part.

It is possible that with the cover gone the nozzle is dropping down a little too far and triggers the error message. Since the sensor is magnetic if you still have the piece and can measure the thickness You maybe able to make a temporary equivalent out of a few layers of something like electrical tape (this would be at your own risk) equivalent to cover thickness placed where it came from. Of course if you still have the piece you could try just placing it back on. This would at least let you test if it seems to have any affect on the error or not.

Edit: Thinking about it if the nozzle is hot tape is probably not the best option unless it is something like Kapton tape. Aluminum foil might be a better option.

I had this sensor fail after 4 months. The replacement was easy to fit and no problems since.

I had this error too, after ~750h. The sensor (the black square) had some marks, kinda like scratches. I removed the sensor plate, fiddled with it (most importantly, perhaps, ran a plastic spudger over the sensor to ”flatten” it), and reseated the connector. For whatever reason it has worked since but I’m prepared for having to replace it eventually.
