Nozzle scrapes bed

Hi all,

New to forum here looking for help. Facebook wasn’t cutting it. I have had my A1 for 6 months with your normal issues that were easily fixed. This one I cannot figure out.

I changed a nozzle out (4mm for 4mm), and now when it first starts to print that first line in front of the bed, not much comes out then scrapes the bed going to start main print. I have done all of the following with no change in bed scraping:

  • Changed/cleaned beds
  • calibrated multiple times
  • changed out hot end assembly
  • checked and tightened all screws
  • tried different prints
  • put back original nozzle
  • factory reset
  • checked nozzle fit
  • lubed
    Nothing has stopped or improved the nozzle from not scraping the bed. I am at loss. Nothing from support ticket 3 days ago. At a loss and need your help.

For clarification,

Can you extrude filament manually without issue?

When you say “scrapes” the bed, the nozzle physically gogues into the bed as it move across it?

No issue when flow calibrating. When staring the print the nozzle is too close to the bed and scrapes along 1st layer. So close, there are extrusion issues then.

Does the same thing happen when you print one of the models that shipped with the printer? If it does, it points to a bed leveling (hardware) issue. If it doesn’t it points to a slicing/gcode issue.

Yes, happening with all prints.

What version of firmware does the printer have?

01.07.01.00(latest version)

Again, just for clarity, how are you cleaning your bed? From the video it does seem to me like an adhesion issue. Do you hear the extruder “clicking” aka missing steps when it’s printing the first layer? Does the filament “jam” as a result of bed being to close? You will see an indent from where the extruder ate away the filament as it tried to extrude but couldn’t. These are all signs of the print head being too close to the bed.

You could also try downgrading the firmware version.

I clean the bed with soap and water. Print head is definitely too close to bed but cannot figure out why. It all started after replacing the nozzle with a new one.

Is it extruding any filament at all? Even a thin smear of filament?

Yes. A small amount. As it scrapes bed. Will replacing extruder next.

Just to be sure since you mentioned changing the nozzle. With the front cover removed does this match your installed nozzle latch?

If so, remove the nozzle and check the screws that hold the nozzle assembly on the hotend. They’ve been known to come loose.

Sure have. New hot end assembly and even replaced the extruder. Tightened everything, calibrated, same issues. At a loss.

Just a note, the screws that are habitually loose and the cause of bad Z offsets are on the BACK of that black block. You must fully remove those 3 screws to access them.

This view is after removing the 3 screws, and rotating the block down, towards you. These 4 screws hold that clip assembly onto the black plate, and they are the ones who need to be ensured are tight.

Also did bed tramming. Bottom right screw was not adjustable and nozzle was hitting plate. I did loosen the screws on right side first as instructions said.

I had the same problem. I had to replace the extruder. The nozzle was fine.

Let me look up what I ordered and I’ll reply.

if you don’t have bed leveling turned on you should do that, if it is on, then I would try contacting Bambu Support.

ich habe seit längerer Zeit dasselbe Problem: Die Düse gräbt sich in mein Druckbett ein! Das Filament kann nicht mehr aus der Düse gedrückt werden, und der Extruder rutscht durch. Ich drucke mit einer 0,2 mm Düse, verwende PLA und PETG und habe alle möglichen Fehlerquellen ausgeschlossen: Das Bett ist ausgerichtet und kalibriert, die Schrauben am Hotend sind fest, die Z-Achse steht senkrecht zum Bett usw.

Während der automatischen Bettnivellierung habe ich eine 0,2 mm dicke Unterlage unter die Düse gelegt und diese vor dem Druckstart wieder entfernt. Dadurch wurde der erste Layer besser, was darauf hindeutet, dass der Fehler bei der Messung der Nivellierung liegt und nicht am Extruder.

Im G-Code habe ich den Befehl G29.1 Z+0,17 eingefügt, damit mein Bett nicht verkratzt wird. Das ist jedoch keine dauerhafte Lösung, da die Bettnivellierung nicht die tatsächliche Oberfläche des Betts abbildet.

Ich vermute, dass der Z-Motor eine zu große Streuung bei den Rückmeldewerten hat, sodass die Software die Höhe nicht exakt berechnen kann. Ich habe deshalb den Z Motor im Verdacht. Im Ersatzteilangebot finde ich jedoch keinen passenden Ersatzmotor für den A1.
