Nozzle sticking to extruder during swaps / stubborn thin plastic film

I sometimes run into an issue on my X2D (and back then on my A1 as well) where the nozzle practically gets glued to the extruder assembly when I want to swap it out. I have to heat the nozzle up to 150°C before I can loosen and remove it.

No matter what I try - whether wiping it down hot or cleaning it with IPA - I just can’t seem to get rid of that ultra-thin film of plastic residue on the nozzle’s contact plate.

How do you deal with this?

Did you have a blob on the nozzle so that the plastic went in between?

Anyway, what worked for me was heating the nozzle to ~150 °C, then taking it out and quickly brushing it with a brass brush. Do the same on the mating contact surface. But in the end, I bought a new heating assembly and nozzle, because there was so much plastic in the rest of the heating assembly.

Not on my X2D so far.

On my A1 this problem occurd after a first blob, but on my X2D it came without such a problem.

I will try to clean it with a brass brush.

I recently had this issue on the X2D. Same basic solution, heated the nozzle up to 150 degrees and popped it out.

I tried the brass brush on hotend and all nozzles (after heating them up).

Perfect: Changing without heating is working again! Thank you!

Perfect :+1: It would be great if you could mark the post as solution that helped you

Sorry, accidently clicked on my own post
