I have a sphere with a flat spot. It refuses to sit down on the flat spot when commanded. Using the auto orient command brings no joy. It’s as if BS thinks it is a full round sphere.
Any ideas?
Two possibilities:
- Your sphere isn’t a cleanly cut sphere; there are still remnants beneath the flat surface that are just too small for you to see. This can happen if you cut it incorrectly or if there was an error during export.
- You’ve grouped the sphere with other objects, and all of the objects are being treated as the center point. Possible solution: Ungroup them first.
Workaround: Add a tiny cube to the plate as a reference and group it with the sphere. Then be careful: Drag down only the sphere, not the entire group. Again: Be very careful not to pull the group down, but only the sphere from the group.
Only object on the plate. I am going back to fusion to see if the tangent plane to create the flat spot misfired by me somehow.
Thanks for the help.
Yup, BS was triggering off of the tangent plane and sketch for whatever reason.. No time to figure out why.
It had a threaded hole on the flat spot. So I backed up, added a threaded counterbore hole with the counterbore set to the size of the flat required. Actually that’s a lot simpler in this scenario.
BS was happy with that.
