Odd behavior with P2S and AMS

I recently upgraded from P1S to P2S but keep my 2-original AMS units. Today I uploaded a print job using black PLA filament, one color print but it would not load the filament. After a few tries I manually loaded filament from 2 different slots on the same AMS unit and both loaded okay. Curious, I moved the original PLA which wouldn’t load to an empty slot, trimmed the filament about 6-inches, loaded and tried with success this time to load and finished a 2.5hr print. Great. Now I have returned that black filament to its original to retest to load process and all is working normal. I took a close look at the short piece of filament I trimmed and cannot see anything that might can a non-load.

Gremlins maybe? :wink:

Anyone ever have a similar issue?

Just a shot in the dark here Ross, but the AMS is supposed to read the tags in the Bambu Labs spools. Not sure how, magnetically?

Maybe by trimming the end it allowed to spool to rotate enough to read the tags?

I generally register my spools by the manual entry of the panel. :woozy_face:

Thanks for the suggestion.

I started last August with a P1S and found myself chasing issues like this as if there was a clog or broken filament, etc. I’ve have since learned to “get a second opinion” so to speak, by trying other spools to see if the load or moving the filament to a different slot.
