Orientation of a part

Hello,

When I import this part, it appears on the build plate as shown in ‘Original orientation’.

I think the best way to print it with as little support material as possible is as shown in ‘Orientation’ (?).
But I don’t know how to rotate it so that it’s exactly perpendicular to the plate.

Perhaps I need to work out the angle in the CAD programme (Onshape) and rotate it by that angle in Bambu Lab?

There is, of course, the option of letting it ‘fall’ onto the build plate, but then you have no control over how it lands (?).

Kind regards,
ProApe

P.S. I never know which category to choose as the most appropriate for my topic.

I would print it in the original orientation with a brim and a support only under that lowest part of the pipe. The rest shouldn’t need any.

Edit: Sorry, I mixed up the views. When I said original orientation I meant that first image.

To get the orientation right possibly the simplest method is to select the face of the part you want on the bottom using the “Lay on Face” button.

Thank you! I didn’t know this method.

In fact it is very simple!

Check out the video - it has a lot of important tips, especially when it comes to strength.

Handy tips. Timely as well, as I’ll soon be printing vacuum adaptors for my power tools. Thanks.
