I know there is machines and slicers offering this neat feature.
But you do need either two independent- or a dual extruder in your machine.
I good friend overseas ask me if I would have an idea to make this possible on his single hotend machine.

The new use it to provide a soft and grippy TPU layer where needed.
For example rigid tool handles and such.
I tried several variations…
Like making two models, with one just like a skin to the other material or colour.
Seems impossible though to get acceptable results.
A total time and filament waste trying to print a soft layer on a grip or such unless it would the top or bottom layer.
In all other cases it is far too many purges to be a viable option.
The slicing can also be a total pain …
Unless I missed something than trying this on a P1S even with AMS is pretty much pointless.
So I probably have tell my friend that if my machine can’t do it than his less advanced one won’t be doing it either.
I never though about this option with TPU until my friend poked me.
Now I am starting to miss my old dual extruder printer already… LOL
