Did you try Strength>Detect thin wall?
When you scale you scale everything including the thickness of the wing covering. I would imagine ‘arachne’ wall type is already selected if not I would also try that.

You were correct. Detect thim wall was not selected. Turning it on solved the issue. arachne wall type was not on by default.
*i appreciate you mentioning that scaling down the model will also reduce the wall thicknesses too. i knew that but didnt think about it…
