I’m having a problem with newer versions of BS. When a surface is painted (with edge detection), BS is adding an outer wall around the perimeter of the painted area. See black arrows in photo.
Photo below is same object, with no painting.
Printer is H2S.
In previous version of BS (1.8.4.51 and using X1X and P1S), this outer wall was not created for painted regions. This is what I prefer for my part.
Two questions:
- Is there a setting to control if that outer wall is created for painted regions only?
- I could revert to using 1.8.4.51, but i am unable to add my H2S printer to this version of BS (i don’t have X1C or P1S anymore). Is there a workaround to add H2S to older versions of BS?

Welcome to the forum.
You have noticed an interesting difference in slicing between versions. That being said, does the outer wall generating as it is affect the end result? With properly tuned filament I don’t think you will see this in the print.

Yes, it actually does make a difference. These are trays for diamond painting. the small plastic “diamonds” need to slide out of the rows smoothly.
We stuck with the older version of BS because of this - but now that we upgraded our printer to H2S, we can’t use the older version of BS anymore.

I haven’t tried it but if you export the gcode from the previous version you may be able to open it in the recent version and send it to the H2S.

While the painting behavior has changed, if you must replicate it on new versions, you can likely find some success by handling that comb/rake as a seperate object/part. Lay the object precisely on top of the now flat surface, and assign the object the different filament. (The behavior will be different if the object penetrates below the surface, not ideal for your case.) There’s many ways to do that, easiest in CAD, hardest probably with lots of cuts + copy pasting in the slicer and patience.
Also, possibly possible to make existing model do it with 100% infill… Hard to tell in this case. Sometimes the slicer gets creative with multicolor around cavities where it wants to do infills.

ok, I will give that a try. i already print with 100% infill.
tried separating the comb/rake into a separate object - with no success.
tried copying the G-code - but it is created for an X1C - and I need it for a H2S - so the code won’t work.
any other suggestions?
