I know this is an old issue and I have read a bunch of “fixes” but nothing works for me. Maybe this is an issue with the latest update from Bambu Firmware 01.08.02.00
I can get the printer to do a Z-axis homing successfully, but when a print is started the build plate will not come up high enough to touch the print head. Then it gives me a error code: 0300-0d00-0002-0005 ( build plate not properly placed ).
The build plate is perfectly placed, nothing is obstructing the bed from moving ( it had just finished the homing and was touching the print head ).
Anyone heard of a bug ???

make sure there is no poop on the back lead screw platform… funny i was going to take a picture to show you where and I happened to have a piece there as well lol

No poop anywhere. I have been very diligent in removing all ( even using vacuum ). Like I said, the Z-axis homing process works fine but the print will not occur.

Hard for me to blame the update as it only happened once but I got the same message a few days ago (after 08.02) and the bed/plate were all the way down to bottom. Not sure it could have lowered anymore. Tried hitting the Home key several times and each time it would raise an inch or so then fault again. Did it several times and at some height it decided it was okay and did the entire homing process and been fine ever since.
Almost like it had lost track of where the bed was in relation to the nozzle.
It almost sounds like some dirt or debris got trapped in the belt under the printer, temporarily blocking or just hindering z-axis movement…

Not likely, because the homing process works if I do it before the print each time. Not just a one off occurrence .
it is hard to blame the update as well, but since the updates that happened after the H2D release, the machines and the bambu studio are acting bit under the expected performance, im getting alot of random errors that are only fixed by restarting the printer or just hit resume without having any physical issue to solve.
this is normal to happen when launching a new product but didn’t expect it to affect the old products.
No true resolution yet but I did get the thing to print a couple of files. I’ve changed to PLA filament and it worked on two small prints but failed again later. I’m thinking it has to do with the settings for PETG or PETG-HF. No response from Bambu support yet. I absolutely know it is NOT blockage or interference with the build plate or its positioning.

Can you drive X, Y, Z axes around manually?
Maybe disconnect the connectors behind the Toolhead Front Cover and reseat all of them.
Get a flashlight where you can really shine a light on all those connectors to make sure they are not offset accidentally. That is a doable thing to plug them in offset by a single contact. It is extremely packed in and around those connectors and it is easy to overlook when you are talking about like .25 mm offset.
Make sure the two screws that hold the nozzle in alignment with the extruder are tight. That is another location where it can sort of seem like it is okay but can be ever so slighlt out of alignment.
Do a wiki search on “force sensor” and review those items.

Yes I can control all axis manually with the computer or the printer panel. I have unplugged all connectors and carefully re-attached, but I’ll do it again. I did take the nozzle off for cleaning and those screws are tight.
One other issue is - I thought it might be a software issue, I am on the most current version. I tried to step back one version but when download older versions to my computer then copy to the SD card the printer cannot find the older file. Don’t know what is going on there.

I have had no issues at all with any of the firmware upgrades. The last couple made the AMS RFID information to get all out of whack but I was able to correct is so I’m inclined to think that BL did something purposeful to the RFID configuration and it wasn’t that the firmware was bad as much as they changed it and I had to figure out the change. So some of the “bad firmware” accusations may be more a case of change.
Well, just got a Z-Axis fault so what’s up with that? Non-issue.
You format the SD card as FAT32? Windows will want to default to exFAT and if you have an updated Windows 11 machine FAT32 may not even be offered as an option.
Problem solved with information from youtube. There are 6 screws ( in pairs ) at three locations on the print bed just at the base of the each vertical screw drivers. I loosened them all just enough to pull the bed just 1 mm ( paper thin movement ), hardly noticeable. Then re-tighened them. Could not believe such a small movement was responsible for the issue. I’ve made two successful prints so far. Guessing it’s fixed.
