any one try to replace the p1s camera with an x1 or p2 camera any thoughts?

This isn’t possible as the P1S doesn’t have the required processor power to use these cameras.

If you want a better camera, your best avenue is use a stand alone 3rd party one. There are lots of options out there.

Integrating a different camera that would work with Bambu Handy would be difficult if not impossible.

If it was possible given the several years the P1S is available and the many clever guys out there don’t you think it would have already been done? A 3rd party camera can be integrated with some 3rd party software just not bambu handy

i just wish that you could use an x1 camera with the p1s or the a1 camera

Can I ask what purpose you are using the P1S camera for? It’s really there to simply check the state of your print.

Okay. Why do you need the camera to interface with the Handy app? For videos for YouTube you’re really going to want a better camera than any of the Bambu lineup can provide.

X1C camera is a USB camera, while P1S is not.
X1C has a real CPU running on real OS - Linux. P1S main CPU is the same chip of a WIFI Bluetooth module.

The task connecting a USB camera to P1S can be compared to playing Crysis on nokia 3310

  • Buy a small IP camera maybe, put it on top of the printer
  • Add more light to the printer.

If you want timelapse video, you should get timelapse kit instead

Then setup a mobilephone with bluetooth shutter control, or even better DSLR with electronic shutter control. And then let the timelapse kit control the camera shutter.

In my opinion, P1S or any enclosed printer, timelapse video is not really good because you are limited with bad camera angle.

That is not upgrade. That is the same as having a dedicated IP camera to look at the build plate.

That is just a standalone camera which is small enough to put at the right side of the printer.

Cons:

  • You’ll need a RPI board just to run the camera streaming server.
  • Not compatible with Bambu Lab software system
  • Stock pin-hole lens has narrow view angle and small aperture
  • Look ugly with boards and cable dangling around inside the printer if not managed well enough
  • Software side on RPI can be intimidating

Pros:

  • Video stream can be integrated to opensource eco quite easy and possibly live stream video feed to youtube directly.
  • There are options for different view angles or focus lengths of M7 lens
  • Frame rate or resolution depends on camera and the RPI in used
  • Camera is small enough to put inside the printer with considerably best view angle.

Yeah, it’s possible for youtube stuff, but not possible to replace camera feed in hady app

Unfortunately it is not that easy. If it was, that would be the recommended way of upgrading the camera.
