I recently bought a new extruder for my P1S. When it arrived it contained a small tube of “silicon” (their spelling) glue.
Here is picture of toolhead with the “As bought” tape in place. Do you put a dollop of the silicon glue back where the tape was to hold tiny ribbon cable to the extruder body.
For anyone interested, I am about 95% sure the tape is TESA 51036.
There are other cloth tapes but none come near the TESA in performance.

I replaced my extruder a couple of months ago and had no problems that I remember with having to put tape back on to secure the ribbon
There are several of the cloth backed tapes out there but that TESA tape is the real deal.
I did not have any issues other that when I disassembled my existing extruder it was beyond nasty.
I periodically clean and lube the various lead screws, carbon rods, in the printer but had never opened up the extruder to service it before.
I’m not a fan of Biqu/Panda electrical/electronic stuff because it has caused me problems in the past. That said, I do always replace the plastic BL gear with the metal Panda Claw because I do not like the plastic gear. A chunk of machined brass isn’t going to drive my printer crazy like plugging into the USB port.
Recently I was really fighting with the toolhead when changing nozzles so wanted to pull extruder to see why it was such a problem. Figured I better buy another extruder in the event there is a problem with the extruder body causing trouble.
From that I got a grossly dirty extruder which I cleaned, lubed and reassembled. Then new extruder showed up with the tube of glue. Wiki has no explanation. I didn’t use the glue, but is is a cost item for BL labs and it even being in the box would imply a real issue. So the question is more “why were they sticking this tube of glue in the box?”
