I’ve had this printer for about two weeks… well, technically, it has only worked for the first week. About a week ago it suddenly stopped working.
On the day it failed, I tried to print something, but the AMS started moving back and forth several times and eventually threw an error indicating there might be a clog. I disassembled the extruder but found nothing. Since I already had it open, I swapped the nozzle for a hardened one and cleaned the gears, but the issue remained. I even tried printing without the AMS, but the extruder still wasn’t able to pull the filament in.
I opened a support ticket and received a new extruder filament sensor, but after replacing it I’m still getting the same result.
My goodness—brand new printer, and it’s already driving me crazy. I thought I was buying a quality product. Can anyone advise what the problem might be?
Did you try to load a filament from the external spool without the ams?
If you can manually load it without problems → check the PTFE tubing path from the AMS until the printer and ensure that there are no kinks or tight radii on the way as this can increase the friction to a point to where the filament doesn’t get pushed all the way to the extruder head by the AMS. Observation during loading is key to see where the issue is at.
Yes, I have tried loading without the AMS, but I got the same result — no success. At this point, I believe the problem may be with the extruder motor. It makes a clanking sound when I try to extrude.
I had a problem that looks to be quite similar once. Whatever I did, the printer didn’t load the filament. Turnend out to be a short bit of filament broke off inside the extruder. Had exactly the right length for the new filament to not get enough traction so that the printer always gave up after three or so attempts.
Opened it all up, found the culprit, removed it and everything went fine again.
I’m having a similar issue, I found that a piece had broken off, I removed it. It loads 2-4 perfectly fine, but in 1, I can push the filament in, and when it starts, it pushes it out instead of loading it.
I have completely disassembled the extruder, but either I’m blind or there’s nothing wrong with it. When I tested it with the extruder outside, the filament fed through the gears properly. Today tech support told me they will send me… a new SD card. I was shocked… how should it help You mean I should tear down the toolhead all the way to the motor?
Finally got the replacement extruder motor. Is there any video on how to replace it? I can’t find anything, and support just sent me the wiki for the X1C…
One of my P1S’s died, the extruder motor is entirely seized. I’m out of warranty on that machine so I’ve ordered a replacement. It was supposed to be here a few days ago, but FedEx in their infinite Fedexsuckery way has managed to delay the delivery multiple times. When I finally get it, I’m hoping that fixes it.
You mean I should tear down the toolhead all the way to the motor?
