I have a P1S which I purchased at the beginning of the year. After purchasing I installed a hardened steel 0.4 mm nozzle as well as the hardened steel Extruder Gear Assembly. I also have an AMS unit attached to it. It has been sitting on a dedicated table since its initial setup and never moved. I primarily use PLA (Normal, Silk, Matte, and sometimes carbon fiber) and PETG. The machine has around 2500 hours of print time.
As of a few weeks ago, every single print I have run has terrible layer lines in random spots from the bottom of the print all the way to the last layer. It is independent of the filament that is used or print profile I use.
Upon inspecting the printer today, I noticed that one side of the bed that connects to the Z-slider was loose and allowed the bed to rock.
- I loosened the 6 bolts holding the build plate onto the z-slider and re tightened them as per the wiki heatbed installation instructions.
- I cleaned the carbon rods as well as the linear rods for the x and y axis as per the wiki.
- I readjusted the tension on the xy belt as per the wiki instructions.
- I cleaned and relubricated the z lead screws as per the wiki.
- Lastly, I installed a new sd card and reformatted it (I did this because the previous day prints were refusing to start with an error “microsd card read write exception”. This resolved after a format, but I thought maybe the SD card was beginning to fail.).
After doing each of these I ran a full calibration before trying to print the model again. Each time the results were the same, the layers constantly are randomly shifting. The only thing that seems to be consistent is the layer shift seems to be in the X direction only.
I’ve already submitted a support ticket but I’m wondering if there are any other ideas anyone has?
