New to this forum and just got a P1S for my sons. When you’re printing a multi-colored design, does it have to be done via the Bambu Handy app on my laptop and then saved to the SD card? When we try to print to the AMS via the Bambu Handy app on the iPhone, nothing prints.
No, it should work from the app, can you specify what you mean by it doesn’t work

Thanks for responding! My son uses the printer the most, so my initial post was incorrect. When he uses the app to print to the AMS it doesn’t work with filament that isn’t Bambu Labs filament.
When this occurs, a message on the app says, “To manually select the filament.” After selecting that option, the printer doesn’t print from the AMS.
If you use Bambu Lab filament, the RFID tags contain all the information about the manufacturer, type, sub-type and colour, this provides print and build plate temps.
If you use any other brand, you must enter these yourself.
There are two places to do this.
- Bambu Handy
- Bambu Studio
In each case, navigate to the Device tab, select the AMS in question (or only if just one) and then tap each slot you wish to assign.
Just lie to the AMS. Create a generic PLA (or whatever material in use) pick a color and save it.
Separately in future save the RFID tag that is attached to the inner spool cardboard core when you use up a spool of Bambu Lab filament.
Also, you can use Bambu Studio or Bambu Handy to print from.
You have to input the filament information, click on the AMS in bambu handy and it will let you program the filament
