I have a P1S that reads PETG HF as PLA at startup and every time I start a new project. If I don’t resync every time, it will grab any PLA roll that’s in the AMS and print with it on my dedicated PETG printbed. Any ideas why this is happening? I can work around it by either resynching every time I print or only having PETG in the AMS, but it’s very annoying…
Bambu Lab filament or other brand/generic?
Bambu. It’s weird for two reasons. 1. usually Bambu Studio remembers the filament settings for my last session (unless I open a 3mf of course) and 2. it’s remembering the PETG as PLA basic of the same color, but will auto switch to a different color of PLA at the beginning of a run.
Not necessarily a solution but but have you gone into configuration and removed all the filament types and brands that don’t apply? May not help but can’t hurt.
One other thing is that there is a notch in the cardboard core of filament that perfectly aligns with the RFID chip. There is a corresponding tab on that side of spool so notch fits tab. I did not initially notice this when I was putting refill on spools. I’d drop the refill on taller side of spool, put other side on and lock in place. Put it in AMS and seriously struggle to get the AMS configuration in Bambu Studio to match what was physically in AMS.
Now, I make absolutely sure the notch in the cardboard core of refill is fitted over tab on spool. Probably nothing but ever since that, the AMS will be updated before I get to laptop.
I have noticed when you load a new (or old) spool in AMS, it will rotate about half a turn in both directions. I’m pretty sure that is firmware looking for RFID.
If you don’t match notch to tab, the filament on cardboard core can slip on spool.
There is a reason why that cardboard core notch, spool tab, RFID all line up. Whether it is the above option, I don’t know but food for thought.
