P1S Stops Extruding Mid Print and Clogged Hot End

Hi,

After a few months of success, suddenly most prints I am making will either have no extrusion at all or will print for a little bit then quit extruding. The print head continues to “print”, just waving over the print bed without producing any material, and it end with a clog in the hot end.

What I’ve tried:

Different Filaments - limited success. Using bambu filament does seem to have a greater success rate than the off brand Amazon stuff I have

Changing extruding gear to hardened steel - no change

Different prints - no change

I am about to toss the printer out the window. Currently I have a clog in the hot end that I can’t do anything to get out, so if you have any feedback on what I can do that would be great.

What I’ve done to fix the clog:

-heating up hot end and trying to push the filament through with various long narrow metal objects - no success

  • heating up a needle and shoving it into the hot end and trying to pull out filament - no luck

-trying another small print with different filament to hopefully push out the clog - did not work.

Any insight on how to fix either of my problems would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

What type of filament are you printing? Are you printing from the external spool or from an AMS? Is the nozzle clogging or is the filament softening and jamming in the extruder? Have you performed a cold pull? Have you replaced the nozzle or ensured that the thermal paste is still good in the current nozzle?

Thank you for your reply

For answer

I am using PLA, occasionally PLA Silk. Some Bambu but a lot of no name generic (could be the issue)

When I take apart the extruder, I dont see filament in the gears or anything. How would I know for sure if its in the extruder or the nossle?

I have not done a cold pull, I will try that.

I replaced the stock nozzle with a hardened steel one a couple months ago. What would I look for in terms of thermal paste? I know it gets hot

Tried the cold pull and I think its too clogged to even do that. It didnt do anything at all
