Bed is squeaky clean with dish soap and warm water.
I have been going crazy trying to figure this out. This only recently showed up on both my P1S printers. I thought the offset was bad or maybe a piece of trash on the nozzle was messing up the bed leveling but found nothing.
At this point I’m thinking it’s the flow-rate. But tried increasing it led to poor side walls on every layer and seam. Especially noticeable in the black filament but these gaps appear on every color and filament I try. Thoroughly cleaning the nozzle for a clog didn’t lead to anything either.
Filament calibration with every filament? Is there an underlying reason why an already calibrated filament profile I have set up would go out of calibration? Is it just small variations and differences between each roll of filament despite same brand, color, and type?
I only use Bambu, Hatchbox, and Overture with profiles for each for a year now across plenty of rolls with the same profile. Why would an issue like this show up only recently?
Just tried it got similar results, in fact would say it’s even worse. At this point I’m thinking it’s a mechanical issue. What kind I’m not sure. This P1S is one of the newer ones so It dosen’t make sense that it would have issue like this already.
That’s what I assumed but using the bambu lab presets for the bambu filament gave me the same results and using different filament brands. So now I’m thinking it’s mechanical and I just encountered a “failed to pull back filament error” as well as visual evidence. I think the PTFE tube is providing too much resistance in the AMS, that or there is junk in there that needs to be cleaned.
Nothing to worry then.
But sometimes updates go wrong or things are missed, like the full hardware calibration after significant firmware updates.
Two machine with the same flaw at the same times just isn’t close enough to coincidence.
There must be a common cause.
Let’s assume hardware, firmware, Studio and all really did not change.
With different filament I can only think about one factor, unlikely to affect two printers at the same time but still…

Clean the build plate using warm soapy water (dishwashing liquid) and a CLEAN sponge.
Not a rough pot cleaning one, a soft one or if you have microfibre cloth.
Pretend the plate is a dinner plate with dried in leftovers
Keep cleaning until the water run off from the plate is even throughout the entire plate.
Dry with a lint free cloth or paper towel and avoid leaving finger prints and smudges.
Now wipe the plate clean using IPA, wipe dry using a dry microfibre cloth.
Try your print again and check if it works better now.
Done. Followed all the steps above but Im still seeing the same issue. Even disassembled both the extruder and AMS buffer as suggested from other people on the forum. But I’m still seeing what I can only describe as “under extrusion”.
Okay long post but for those having the same issue or have an issue where you get an error that says “extruder clogged” or “can’t feed filament” do this:
TLDR: check your PTFE tubes for holes or if it’s sanded down from use if worn replace and also clean the AMS buffer on the back of the printer, that’s what solved the issue for me on both printers. Mind you I use these daily for a buisness so they are constantly running so depending on how often your using your printer, the life span of these parts and how often you need to do maintenance is going to change.

There are several versions of this online, because people have experienced this before, this is just the version I like. IMPORTANT: Calibrate the printer, it’s an automatic option under the deivce tab where you can view the printer camera under control and right next to print options. Run it so your printer works after doing all this.
Explanation:
I had what looked like under extrusion in my first layer. A baind-aid solution was increase the bottom surface flow ratio under quality. But it same issue came back, then wouldn’t even print some colors at all. Then I kept getting a “extruder clogged” error and “can’t feed filament” or pull back filament error. Tore down extruder and hot end completey, found nothing, kept getting the same extruder clogged error when I know there is nothing blocking it.
Kept digging found some people cleaned the AMS buffer located at the back of the printer. I checked mine, had some junk in there, very little mind you, not enough that you think it would ruin the ability to print. But I cleaned it and it fixed everything. That fixed the older p1s, the newer one needed new tubes in the AMS. It looks like the excessive wear of the tubes and junk in the buffer caused too much resistance and gave what looked like under extrusion on the first layer, replaced the tubes on both printers, with the increased flow rate for the bottom surface and I’m back to normal quality first layers. I’ll keep going with these settings and see what happens, I will update this topic if anything comes up.
