P2S – Cable Guide Pivot Pin sliding down, blocking Y-axis homing

Hi everyone,

I’m having a mechanical issue with my Bambu Lab P2S and wanted to check if anyone has seen this before or found a fix.

Problem:
The toolhead cable guide arm pivot pin is loose and slides downward during Y-axis movement. When this happens, the cable guide arm cannot fully retract, physically blocking the toolhead from reaching the rear Y limit.

Symptoms:

  • During auto calibration, the printer seems to home correctly at first
  • Mid-calibration, Y loses its reference
  • The toolhead cannot reach 100% of the Y travel
  • When moving the toolhead by hand, the pivot pin clearly slides down and becomes a hard stop

I’ve confirmed:

  • Belts are fine
  • No cable snagging
  • Issue is purely mechanical
  • The internal spring is working, but the pin is not retained axially

From what I can see, the pivot pin should rotate only, not move up/down. In my case, the plastic retention seems worn or defective.

Questions:

  • Has anyone successfully fixed this without replacing the entire cable guide arm assembly?
  • Is there a known tolerance issue with this pivot pin on the P2S?
  • Any recommended temporary fix while waiting for replacement parts?

Thanks in advance!

I was wondering at first what it was. I don’t own a P2S but an H2D and while this part is similar, it’s completely different on P2S and feel a litlle flimsy when I looked at this video to understand how it works.

at 13:50, he shows the part in action

To replicate your issue, it can be several thing, remove it and inspect and see if you can fix it waiting for a replacement .

I just wonder why you call it cable guide it’s the cutter stopper that protudes to push the cutting lever for filament cut isn’t it?

I’m having this exact issue. How were you able to resolve it?

This is the Filament Cutter Stopper. You can first try reinstalling it per the wiki below to see if it improves the situation. If not, replacement will be required.

I fixed removing and reinstalling.
