Yesterday my brand new P2S arrived and I’m already “torturing” it with some longe prints…I realized it’s a real beast which prints damn fast and I’m wondering if maybe also too fast…let me explain: I see the default acceleration is 10.000 mm/s2…of course this is good if we think in the “shortest term” related to the piece which is on printing, but what about the “longest term”? I mean when the printer reaches that accelleration almost the room’s floor shakes…I’m not sure that in the long term the printer structure will not suffer about this accelleration, am I right? Starting from the point that I don’t give a… ehm…a cabbage if my print takes 3 hours instead of 2, do you think that decreasing the accelleration to, let’s say, 5 or 6.000 mm/s2 will have impacts on prints quality (particullarly on sharp corners etc.)? Am I worring for nothing?
I understand your feelings, the speed and jerk are really intimidating when you see it at first and next thought is “this can’t be healthy and something has to give up very soon”. It feels like the settings are just for showing off but in day to day printing of course you tune it down quite a bit.
But actually experience has not revealed any major problems with those speeds. My X1C now is 2 years old and at 1100 print hours and printing like at day one. And that is not much use. Others have already 2 or 3 times or even more hours on their printers and no problems that I have read of. So apparently, BambuLab really have done their homework and design printers that can hold up the promise.
You still might want to reduce accelerations for certain prints for quality reasons: At higher values, pressure advance causes sharp corners to be more rounded. Or you want less noise.
But if you are happy with the results at default settings, there is nothing wrong with using them regularly.
You will soon get used to the speed and vibration and printers from a few years ago will seem like an ancient curiosity to you
