P2S enclosure popping/cracking

I am familiar with thermal expansion and contraction but does anyone’s P2S also loudly crack/pop multiple times in a span of a few minutes? Sometimes after a print, other times while not even turned on. It is quite annoying.

I also notice that the p2s is much louder than my P1S when it comes to resonances. When the bed moves up, when the Printhead homes (especially on the movement towards the back) etc. It’s all much louder.

Just watching the thread.

I recently replaced a p1 and x1 with p2s’s. You are not crazy, the homing is insanely loud in comparison. I would use the word “violent” to describe the resonance compensation. Good thing it is more quiet while it is actually printing.

I have not experienced any “cracking” or “popping”, but it will be interesting what you find out.

I also noticed that the motor noise cancellation is not as effective as with my P1S. The P2 slightly sounds the older Ender 3 machines before they got the silent motherboard.

I am not really hearing it to be honest with you.

The motor noise has a higher pitch on the P2S compared to the P1 or X1, but I would not say it is particularly louder. Hard to compare it with the ender 3 noises.

Did you get any video of the cracking and popping?

I’m working on it

Finally caught one. A loud one even.

Yeah that is a good one.

Does this happen when the printer is preheating? or only when it is printing?

My thought is that maybe there is a fault in the vent motors that are making that noise.

What temp have you been heating the chamber to?

Does this noise happen when you are not heating the chamber?

It happens while printing, while powered off, while cooling off from a print. Not always and not exactly reproducible. Sometimes it happens, other times it doesn’t. It’s it not happening right as i start a print/ the bed is heating up.

This one happened as i was typing this reply:

It sounds much closer to the original crack through the phone speaker vs pc speaker.

My print finished…10? 15 minutes earlier? 1hr print, 255c, 70c petg-hf

Here are some more i cut together

I think your printer might be possessed. :face_with_spiral_eyes: It’s a really an odd issue. Was there any damage to the printer shipping box? Frame seems straight and it sits flat? Probably suggest a ticket regarding this.
