P2S Firmware and Bambulab Ecosystem doubts

I bought a P2S Combo less than one month ago (awaiting now for the second AMS2 Pro to arrive) and, although I’m an IT professional with more than 30 years of experience and I had an old XYZ 3D Printer since 10 years ago, I’m still a newbie in Bambu ecosystem and the way the things are working here.

After reading different discussions across these forums I have understood that there are mainly two modes for Bambu Printers:

1st) Bambu Lab’s Cloud Mode: That offers remote monitoring but the printer transmits data to external servers, including camera feeds, printing jobs, etc… which can be a privacy concern.

2nd) Bambu Lab’s LAN Mode: Print data stays on your home network; no data is sent to external servers. Not dependent on internet connectivity or Bambu server uptime. Remote access via the Handy App is disabled. You cannot monitor or control the printer from outside your home network.

If I’m not wrong with these assumptions, I imagine (and I can confirm with my own experience) that in Cloud Mode the Printer (and the AMS too) receives OTA updates on the firmware (mine is asking for the update since I received it but I’m still using the initial one as I don’t have any issue), while for LAN Mode printers you need to do the upgrades manually.

It is stated in Bambu’s Wiki that in any mode (Cloud or LAN) you can always perform a manual upgrade (and downgrade) of the firmware. if I check the Wiki the release history for P2S is the following:

However in the download section there are only two versions available:

Why the rest of versions are not public available?, How can I downgrade to version 01.01.00.00 or 01.01.03.00 for instance if I have an issue with the online upgrade of 01.02.00.00 version?

On the other hand, what happens with AMS upgrades? I haven’t been able to find a firmware repository for them or even a release History. Are AMS upgrades just possible through OTA process? what about downgrades for AMS?

Sorry for this basic questions but I have been unable to find clear answers in all my readings.

but what is your main fear? isnt easier to set an isolated exit to internet from the router and take advantage of the cloud functionality in this case?

My concern here is how can I go for an specific firmware version, either online or offline. Are all the released versions available in the online downgrade option? because it is clear that they are not in the offline. And what about the firmware of AMS2?. I can understand that some ams versions could be compatible just with an specific printer firmware version and they should be applied together, but why I cannot upgrade/downgrade decoupled from printer version the ams firm?

Yeah, you cant. Either you go full online with latest all the time or survive with whatever you can make it work offline, but eventually Bambu Studio might start complaining about it

I will explain what happened in my real example…. I bought the PS2 Combo just a few weeks ago, it came from factory with version 01.01.01.00 in the printer and 3.■■ (I don’t remember the full version) in the AMS. It was working perfectly fine, no issues at all. Last week I received my second AMS2, curiously it came with an older 2.■■ version (is Bambulab reusing or resending repaired units?). Anyway, when I connected it to my system, it forces me to upgrade the printer and the existing AMS2 to the last versions (01.02.00.00 for the printer and 4.■■ for both AMSs). Why I was unable to keep my initial Combo with their versions and just update the second AMS to the same version that the existing AMS that was working fine?. I was scared about this upgrade reading the issues reported by the community, and having in mine that is a version with less than once month public.. This is a lack of flexibility and, in my opinion AMS firmware upgrade should be decoupled from printer firmware upgrade if there were no dependencies

I have this P1S AMS hub update from 00.00.00.42 to .43 fails at 50% every time. All AMS LEDs flash red. Buffer, cables, and unit are brand new. P1S only has 4-pin port so buffer cannot be bypassed. Issue persists after full power resets. And I was forced to remove and throw out my box from my dorm and now I probably can’t return it, does anybody or a god perhaps know what I can do?
