I’m slowly getting desperate. I’m using a Bambulab P2s with Geeetech PETG filament. I’ve recalibrated the filament with every setting, but prints with a higher height always fail. I’ve already tried various settings: printing with a 0.4mm nozzle; different temperatures: print bed sometimes at 80°C, sometimes at 75°C; retraction length 0.4mm | Z-hop type: spiral | wiping during retraction is enabled | wiping distance 1mm; nozzle temperature sometimes 237/235, sometimes 235/230, sometimes 230/225; print speed: relatively slow for clean details.
The higher temperatures worked best. It printed two of the four brackets very well, but it keeps failing the other two. Do you have any ideas what the problem could be?
I will say this is a really bad combination of part geometry and orientation, you’re asking the printer to start a region of the print floating on top of the support, it shouldn’t at all be surprising this is happening!
If you go through your slice preview later by layer you’ll see just how little there is being printed for the first few layers when those trouble points begin getting printed!
Can you flip your part around so it doesn’t have to start a whole separate region mid-print?
If not, consider adding a small primitive cylinder at the bottom points of these floating corners, extending downward a few mm, so they’ll start printing at an earlier layer and be “established” anchor positions before the printer actually has to begin those tricky spots - then you’ll need to remove the cylinder after the print it done.
You may also want to lower your support threshold angle, and increase the number of top interface layers for your support.
Also…clean your build plate better. Supports shouldn’t tear off mid-print like that.
Maybe slow down print speed (under 100mm/s) + disable wiping.
Wiping distance 1mm = run nozzole extra distance of 1mm and let the filament ooz out without extruding. This could cause pressure not build up correctly at new line, hence under extrusion at beginning of new line.
You probably want to turn on full fan speed at overhang as well.
