TLDR; I’m having issues with the extruder or the sensor in the extruder and I’m not able to switch between colors.
I’m new to 3D printing, and I’m quite frustrated right now. Had a stroke 6 years ago so I’m always looking for something to keep myself active. I got the P2S combo and everything was fantastic!
I was bragging on this thing left and right to anybody that will listen I didn’t realize I was jinxing myself, I’ve got about 400+ hours printing mostly PETG and some TPU. I’ve only printed one model in PLA.
No issues until the other night, for the first failure I was one layer into a 4-hour print then I got the error on my phone. I went to clear it and then I kept getting obstruction failures related to the extruder and all that stuff, and since my right side is jacked up a young man came to lend me a hand, and we spent probably 3 hours trying to troubleshoot it.
The bambu lab support can be frustrating in a word. Finally got everything cleared out we could not get the filament out of the hot end so I figured I could extrude it and drop the hot end down. The hot end looked like had been used quite a bit, and I know I’m just touching the abilities of it (lifespan). So I ordered a couple new hot ends that received some reviews that were good and I’m talking like a thousand.
Anyway, I could get a partial print on my old hot end and then I’ll get the same error mode and it would just shut me down (when changing filaments), unloading the filament it’s a pain in the butt, so I have gotten quite proficient with that.
I pulled the filament sensor to see if some TPU was possibly obstructing it. Which was odd because the filament diagram would show that I had TPU in (nothing on the holder), but not having experience with the P2S I didn’t know that was an error because the machine kept working. I was wanting to do a factory reset and it would never let me get past TPU unloading to know when I’m unloading the filaments so that’s what made me think the sensor was bad.
I pulled the sensor out and did not notice that I had unplugged it and then I had fun getting it reattached. Especially when you’ve only got one hand. Double vision and nobody to help you. I got it reattached and in fact it showed that the TPU was empty (now). I thought I was Scott free it still would not load the filament unless I pushed it into start and it would print whatever filament I pressed in manually and then it would attempt to retract it to go to the next color, it would try to continue to roll up the spool but the feed would stop and basically force the spool to jump on the rollers.
Did I say that the full TPU error came back. I’m wanting to call support and find out what’s going on, like I’ve got a bad board on that sensor or what. I am mechanically inclined, and I am electrical, and computer etc savvy, so I don’t mind taking a look at it The only issue is only having one hand.
Reviewing the board I didn’t see a whole lot of posts from staff, so I’m kind of skeptical, and I don’t even know how active this board is, but I need some help. I’ve had to walk away from it for a day or so not because I’m frustrated it is I cannot physically do what I need to do.
