P2S Location and Current Draw Considerations

I’m planning on getting a P2S and AMS2 soon. The problem is where to put it, and the current draw.

The only space downstairs would be against the furnace room door. I’m wondering if the low frequency rumbling from the furnace will affect the print quality. I plan on putting it on a heavy Harbor Freight rolling tool chest.

I also sleep down there. I’m aware of the noise it makes; running it at night probably wouldn’t be possible.

Another not-so-great option is in the laundry room. But there isn’t as much space (for the rolling tool cabinet), and the air conditioner is in that window, drawing most of the available amperage on the circuit. I could run an extension cord into the main room, but then I still have the same problem. The one almost advantage is I could close the door to block much of the noise, but in the warmer months, that would also block the cool air from the air conditioner.

I also wonder how the 1000W startup draw will work on a 15 amp circuit that has 3 lights, a computer, and a TV/cable box on it. 15 amps x 120v = 1800 watts. I could use a UPS to supplement, or a Jackery/Bluetti power station, or similar from Harbor Freight.

I.m.h.o. the worst place to put a printer would be in a laundry room, since it would mean putting it in a high air humidity environment. That would not only be bad for the filament, but also for each and every (metal) part of the printer.
The P2S comes on four very flexible rubber feet, that will filter external vibrations. In fact, the feet are that flexible that the whole machine shakes while printing at high speeds.
My P2S sits in a room next to my bedroom, and I can sleep while it is printing. (Something I couldn’t with the A1.)

Good point. The dryer is vented, but it does leak, spreading some humidity and lint. It certainly wasn’t a good option. It sounds like I only have the one option in front of the furnace room door.

I’ve seen videos of the printer shaking while printing. I was assuming the base it was on could have been moving very slightly, amplifying the motion.

Did you purchase the feet from the Bambu store? I find the vibration too much with the existing feet and I am just wondering if the feet in the store are any better. Thanks.

No: my P2S still sits on the factory feet. And “yes” these make the printer very wobbly, but it doesn’t seem to have a negative impact on print quality, so why change them?

Hi, I had a couple of tall thin prints that I suspect failed because of the vibration, but that I fixed by using glue on the plate and by lowering speed to 50%, so I was hoping the store feet would be better (I might order them anyways I’m just waiting to need more stuff to qualify for the free shipping :slight_smile: ).
