PA CF Feeding in AMS HT?

Hi,
Mostly the filament is spooled back several times and i must help manually to get filament through the PTFE tubes.
Does anyone have some tipps for getting CF materials work together with the AMS HT? For me it is very unstable. On thing i tried is heating up the filament before using, but this doesn`t help all the time and is not very practical. Any other suggestions? I can imagine that i’m not the only person who is struggling with stiffer materials? Thanks!

Im not quite sure what your problem is perhaps you can explain a bit better, but PAHT-CF and PA6-GF are made for AMS feeding. If you are using another type of Nylon it needs to be fed from external spool (or bypass hole). For external spool feeding this new tool is a great help, I use it with TPU to aid with loading and it works great.

PAHT-CF is a bit… mixed. Most PAHT-CFs are not compatible with AMS, except from Bambu’s own PAHT-CF.

If it spools all the way to the final bend near the extruder, stops there, and retries, then you need to reconfigure your PTFE tube to have less of a bend. For most machines this means a small riser for your glass to give +1-2 inches of airspace above the toolhead, and unclipping the PTFE from the chain to live in that space above

Yes I was talking about bambu PAHT. PAHT is not really a standardized filament name, it just means PA High Temp. Other brands PAHT can be regular PA6/12 or even PPA, and needs to be treated like regular PA and fed externally.

I am a little bit confused about the names. Isn“t it more a kind if selling argument of bambulabs filaments? Or is there really such a big physical difference between bambulab pa ht and qidi pa ht?

Yes, i am aware of the problem of narrow space for the tube- but i like the original airtight glass enclosure. Is there a hack that allows the same sealed enclosing and a raised lid at the same time?

Sounds interesting👍. But brittle Filaments have other issues than very soft ones. Would you recommend feeding CF filaments rather through the TPU bypass hole than through the standard hole? Is the buffer really needed?

The best way to compare different brand PAHT is by looking at the MSDS/TDS sheets provided by the manufacturers, usually on the filament page. If you look at bambu you will see its PA12 and copolymer. Unfortunately Qidi MSDS is pretty useless and just says “Nylon” which is very vague. One of the reason I dont buy their filament, and I know many other people that print engineering items that dont either due to this reason. Other brand like Siraya Tech sell their PPA based nylons under the PAHT name. So as I said before there is no industry standard for PAHT and you have to be careful about what you are buying and using.

I feed it thought the buffer, just like PPA and PPS which are much more brittle. I dont see a reason to use the TPU bypass hole for anything besides TPU as intended. PPA and PPS are restricted to the left hot end as the PTFE line has less severe turn. If you are having problem with filament breaking in the tube, I would try to print it form the left hot end.

I have a high doubt that Siraya is selling Fusrock filaments, their products are too similar to each other…
