Painting STLs generated online, in Bambu Studio

I generated some STLs using STL Buddy. Overall they look good until I try to paint them.

The boundaries between regions are very rough and the Fill tool doesn’t work. I imported the mesh into Fusion 360 and used AI to walk me through the process. But after you create face groups which are contiguous color coded regions, when you convert to solid they go away.

Anyone have experience cleaning up these STLs? They’re not worth anything to me if they can’t be printed in multicolor.

No offense, but that is what you need to expect using AI, it’s a sloppy way to make a model.

Slop at the creation level will have repercussions downstream.

(And fusion is not the best software for editing mesh files, it a design software mostly for solids)/, blender would be better)

try to fix the mesh in another tool first to make it watertight, like meshmixer
