Painting supports

Hello all,
I am printing a dessicant container in the form of a two piece ‘ball’ that screws together on the centre line.
One half is an easy and fast print, the other has a 90 deg overhang so I need supports around that but not inside the shape.
I have watched the support video (very poorly done and super confusing) dozens of times, right clicked - left clicked - changed angles - changed brushed - added/removed rafts but absolutely nothing i do will allow me to have support where its needed and not where i dont want it.

Did you change the support type to “manual”? Otherwise the slicer will not use your painted supports.

What exactly are you trying to support and what is not working for you?

Hello Chris and a huge thank you, it was my support not being set to manual.
Simple mistakes as a beginner but ill get there with this forum behind me.
