I’ve been trying to print the A1 Mini Storage Stand V3. I’ve printed a few of the parts flawlessly, but one particluar part keeps failing. The Rear Left, included in the 3rd plate.
I’m using the designer’s profile, in Bambu’s white PLA basic, feeding from the AMS lite, with a PEI textured plate.
I’ve tried this 3 times and it keeps failing at the same spot. I’ve tried printed it on its own and together with other parts. I’ve used two different PEI textured plates as well. Everytime the same area fails.
I’m including photos of all the failed parts as well as one side by side with its mirrored part (rear right) for reference. The mirrored part printed flawlessly first time, btw.
What could be the cause of this? Is this first layer adhesion issues? if so, why the other parts that were printed with it, using the same material had no issues?
My textured PEI plates have lost grip after lots of use and just filament alone doesn’t really stick down well.
Have you tried liquid glue to help keep the parts attached? I have to use it on every print now with my plates but I get good solid prints using it.
On PEI you can also increase bed temperature a few degrees to help keeps parts stuck down.
Also brims and mouse ears can help keep corners tied down.
Adhesion can be spotty for various reasons like fans locally cooling part of the build plate, hand oils and fingerprints, or just lots of use in a particular area.
And there the universal advice on cleaning the plate - warm water and plain dish soap and don’t touch the plate where models get printed. Oils from hands can really cause problems with adhesion.
There’s also abrasive approaches that remove a bit of surface gloss to help adhesion but that takes more care and I see it only as a last resort.
Thank you for your reply. I’m cleaning the plate almost after every print. I will try increasing the bed temp and/or add brims/mouse ears, if i can find the setting.
I really want to avoid using glue unless there is no other way, but with the mirrored part printing flawlessly, I do not think it is necessary.
Many here don’t like to use glue and I totally get that. It’s an extra step that adds time and cleanup to the build plate and part.
But the other argument is if glue lets you get a good print, you’re done. Eliminating troubleshooting and reprinting saves much more time, effort, and expense than not using glue - if it is a build plate adhesion issue.
Not pushing glue but you get the idea. If your build plate is losing adhesion, there are other things you can do to help restore that, or buy a new build plate. That’s another way to “restore” adhesion.
And if it’s moisture in filament, build plate tricks won’t really help and glue probably won’t either.
Another trick would be to print the item on a separate plate and moving it over to an area on the plate where you’ve had better success printing on it. Also, you could try to increase your bed temp by 5 deg when printing it. Otherwise brims or glue may be the best solution.

I totally get your point about saving time with glue. I do have it in mind to use it with the smooth plate in time. However, the plate is brand new; i’ve only had the printer for 2 days.
The fans and door (if enclosed) can have big effects on printing if you are close to problems anyway but not totally there. There are lots of posts here noting problems near the door or a fan.
I suspect it does take being near to having problems anyway to have small environment variations cause issues. For example, if your filament moisture is creeping up, it could be you start seeing issues in localized areas before it spreads plate-wide.
Not saying this is the issue but it might be a factor especially since you noted the plate is new.
Since you are using the AMS light, how are you drying filament and does it sit on the AMS when not in use? It could also be moisture keeping the filament from sticking down. I’ve seen that before and it can be localized in effect just because of small variations in temperature across the build plate from fans/doors.
Finally it printed correctly, with the raised bed temp and brims. Thank you.
I was not close to the printer, i wasn’t even in the room, but perhaps there was a draft from the open windows that affected it.
I’m currently only using PLA basic, sitting on the AMS lite when not in use. But I would be surprised if moisture has started to become an issue on PLA after just two days. If i keep seeing issues like that I will probably print the enclosure for the AMS lite, because removing the spools after every print kinda negates the ease of use that the AMS lite provides.
