Yes, English is a ridiculous language. Bough, Cough, Dough, Enough, Through. None of them rhyme and spelling makes no sense. “i before e except after c” but “weird” is correct.
edit BTW is it legal to modify a mailbox in the USA? I know they have some rules about that.

Not to mention words like “wind” which can mean “blowing air” and also “turning the spring winding key on a mechanical toy”.
Regarding the differences between ABS and ASA - the primary and most-significant difference is tolerance to UV light. I’d argue that “Durability” doesn’t quite describe it right. ABS will break down with prolonged exposure to UV light, where ASA will not. Which is why ASA is better for outdoor use than ABS. Mechanically, they’re close enough to the same not to matter except in narrowly scoped use cases where the ~10% higher heat deflection temp of ASA is important.
Yeah, just about anything can be a mailbox if it is labelled correctly and the correct distance from the road where it is supposed to be.
