I feel like as a creator i hadn’t posted very much lately due to the amount of work and frankly I’ve ran out ideas. I still try to advocate some time so that i could make 3D models but ive find it abit hard nowadays. with that, it would be quite useful to just let the community know if we are pausing our activity in making models for a while.
This system would put an indicator on the creators page just right beside their username to indicate their status in 2 separate different ways. The first of many being “Active” to indicate that the creator is always active and is still contributing to the makerworld platform. The second status would be “Away” this status will indicate that the creator is away and it can be set to the time when they are away such as 2 days, 1 week, etc.
FAQ (Frequently asked questions)
- Why not just use community posts?
-Sometimes community posts doesn’t really reach all the people out there.

Also have ‘Open to Collaboration’, ‘Working on Contest XYZ’, ‘Need inspiration’, ‘Working on … project’, etc.
And create a ‘Wishlist’ list for users to write ideas to their favorite designers. Then the designer could go in, upvote, sort and show everyone how they’ve prioritized potentially working on those ideas.
And I never look at the community section of the site anymore. Spam city.

But useful to who exactly? only commercial users would really care and they are buying in order to sell the models rather than getting model perks, so i’m curious who would even really need to know you had stopped posting

It may prove useful as an indicator to the algorithm of the makerworld site, this could help in making sure that creators are not seen as negligent or abandoning their accounts by the algorithm. The status indicator system would show that they are rather busy or the moment or that they are doing something else but is still allocating time for making models.

The Wishlist idea is quite unique as it might help to make makerworld even more connected than before.

Inactive is inactive, if people aren’t engaging with you it doesn’t matter the reason its going to send less people there, once you start posting and generating traffic again it will continue sending people in your direction
Its not going to care that you mark yourself as inactive because it can already tell that by your uploads dropping
i know what I’m saying is not related but pausing (not uploading) might hurt your profile, I’m not 100% sure of this but i hadn’t posted anything for about a month (same case as you no new idea) after the 5th week of not posting / not being active, i noticed a massive drop in views as if the algorithm noticed I’m not being active and it decided to put my account a side, then i uploaded a design I’m keeping in my library, and started getting active to comments, likes, boosts etc., all of a sudden my profile in general got revived to its normal pace. (still not 100% sure if its the algorithm or just a coincidence). but it felt like if i pause the steady normal view rate and interaction on my profile plumets as i can not relay on it passively…do i make sense ?! lol
hmm now that i think about it i guess so, i also hadn’t posted for a while but then i posted something new just now and i also suddenly received boosts from models that i think is quite unknown. Before this i also received some boosts but they’re just some times. Behind the scenes I’m still focused on other 3D Printing projects that i am still currently doing for the #BambulabsMakeIt, However because of that i find it increasingly a challenge to focus on anything else like my models here on makerworld.
yeah, i guess their algorithm is so similar to Instagram’s if you don’t post regularly you lose your spot…no wonder AI hoggers gets the fame.
