Pen & Tablet for Paint Tool use in Bambu Studio

I’m considering geting a Pen Graphics Drawing Tablet to better use the paint feature in Bambu Studio for fine paint detail. Anybody have recommendations or experience with this? I have a good mouse but is there a better and faster tool?

It works like a charm. Even Wacom’s smallest and least expensive tablets work really well.

I was looking at an inexpensive Wacom tablet from Amazon. Are you saying that this has worked for you?

Even their least expensive tablet (like this one) works perfectly.

Hello, I just got the Wacom Intuos tablet as you suggested. I would like to program the buttons on the pen to adjust brush size in the Paint tool of Bambu Studio. When using a mouse, I hold down the CTRL key and scroll the mouse wheel to adjust brush size. I can’t figure out how to program that into the buttons on the Wacom pen. Could you please please please tell me how??

Hi — yes, I think so.

In Wacom Center, go to your Intuos settings and then to Pen settings. For each side button on the pen, try assigning a Modifier action rather than a simple keystroke.

What you want is:

  • one button set to Ctrl + Mouse Wheel Up
  • the other set to Ctrl + Mouse Wheel Down

That should mimic what the mouse does in Bambu Studio when you hold Ctrl and scroll to change brush size.

One important note: in some parts of Bambu Studio, the modifier may be Alt instead of Ctrl. So if Ctrl + wheel does not change the brush size in the particular paint mode you are using, try programming the pen buttons as:

  • Alt + Mouse Wheel Up
  • Alt + Mouse Wheel Down

If Wacom won’t let you assign those combinations exactly to the pen buttons, the backup approach is to assign one pen button to Ctrl and use a tablet button or on-screen control for scrolling.

That should do it.

Hey gents, hope someone can help me. I just bought the wacom intuos tablet and it worked great for like 30’min then bambu started to become unresponsive. I tried a bunch of stuff to troubleshoot but i couldn’t get it to work. Im on mac os 15.7, the mouse does move.. but it doesn’t do any of the orbiting nor panning or object selection. I need to save the project and open again only to face the same issue after a couple of minutes. Any thoughts???
