I have 2 rolls of the new Bambu PETG Basic filament and the K factor is different on the 2 rolls, see the picture. My questions are, will the AMS automatically switch if those values are different and why are they different in the first place?
I do a lot of PETG, not Bambu, so I have to calibrate it myself. I get different Ks for different colors, and sometimes for the same color if one spool came in a different order than the other. Sometimes even a little different flow. Is it a function of the color? Or is it a function of the “batch”? I don’t know. But as far as my experience is concerned, just because it’s the same color PETG doesn’t guarantee it has the same extrusion dynamics…
I don’t think BBL makes their own filament. They’re buying from someone else and packaging it. If they change suppliers, as long as the new filament meets their quality requirements, it gets sold as the same thing even though it’s going to have some differences in its formulation.
you had select different brands/setups for each of them. that’s why you have different K
To fix this mess you have to add your custom filament here
I suggest to create a “MY generic” set of filaments to use for all brands if they are compatible.
Then from there you can make new custom setups starting from pre-existing profiles to recall as a starting base. When you create filaments don’t forget to include you other different nozzles… otherwise you had to delete and redo them or having duplicates (like me)
Both spools are Bambu from the same order and the AMS read the information from the rfid tag.
You can still use a custom k factor on Bambu filament, so I suppose it may not change itself, click on the little EYE and see what it says, I would check but I don’t have any Bambu filament in my printers right now.
If in the future anyone runs into this, it did automatically switch rolls when the first one ran out.
