I like it a lot. It prints great, has good heat deflection, and its strong for its price (especially at $29 for .5kg). My favorite thing is it looks like a textured injection molded part all over with out any fuzzy skin. You just have to know this ahead of time as it may affect your decision on what parts to use it on.
It just seems unlikely that every region would be out of every color simultaneously. More like they found something wrong with the current batch and had to pull them.
Sunlu makes pretty good standard petg that I have used and then sealed after sanding with some clear coat to make it food safe-ish. I’d probably look into that.
Maybe take the month or two to learn how to use a different type of filament so that when its back in srock you can have a new appreciation for it?
Thanks for the suggestions. Over the years, I have done the PLA and PETG thing. I guess it’s time to try something else. ABS and ASA may be in the que shortly. With the new X1C, I can try some of those filaments,.
Seeing as though our go to supplier of PETG HF has let us down for at least the next six months can we list some alternatives with settings they use? Be great with those who have experience with other blends to share some information. (thanks for those who already have by the way).
I’m newer to 3d printing and the fact that bambu is out of all petg and sunlu out of all matte petg seems pretty wild to me. I don’t use much but figure some of you need this for products being sold and must really be freaking out.
I tried some of the CC3d petg, and now realize why I need to focus on matte finishes as it’s super shiney!
Thanks for the heads up on TecBears, I’ll give some of that a try.
As I understand it, Jayo high speed matte and Tecbears high speed matte are the same as Sunlu. I just ordered a ten pack of Jayo from Ali Express this morning. Amazon has Tecbears in stock now. The Sunlu white is not the same as the Bambu PETG-HF in white. It is more translucent. I haven’t found a good source for white that is opaque as the Bambu white. Voxel has one that is allegedly quite opaque, and isn’t a terrible price. But I haven’t tried it myself.
I got the black/white JAYO 2.2kg combo here to test the filament. Its supposedly bog-standard petg so no fast printing or matte unfortunately but considering how there seems to be a shortage of petg in general I hope it works. We’ll see after it arrive tomorrow and I dry it for 8-12 hours.
