Hi all,
I’m new to printing ASA, actually, didn’t print ASA once but I’m about to do so.
I read a lot about first layer adheason problems and thought if it is possible to use PLA for the first layer and changing to ASA for all other layers, just so the first layer will stick better…
Anyone tried it? any suggestions?
As with all filaments, a clean plate is essential for good adhesion.
I’ve never had a problem with the first layer of ASA, using the engineering, smooth PEI, or textured PEI plates with a thin layer of glue. I’ve used straight Elmers purple glue stick and (recently) Elmers dissolved in IPA and sprayed on the plate to avoid glue lines on the print.
You might try a few ASA prints before you start seeking solutions to a problem that may not exist.
