Plate cleaning step

When I launch a print to my P1S, part of the process is Cleaning the nozzle. You can sit by printer and it will cycle around on that small tab on the back of the build plate.
I use a pretty rigid garolite plate which is heavy gauge sheet metal to provide magnetic adhesion and the surface in contact with the print is a fiberglass sheet and it is pretty hard. That is Wikipedia’s description in any case.

The nozzle cleaning process has worn out a rectangular spot on the back tab.
How does the loss of that material impact the cleaning of the nozzle.
That wear spot tells me the nozzle cleaning process applies some fairly heavy pressure between nozzle tip and build plate and gives the tip a pretty stout scrubbing.

Curious as to other peoples thoughts.

My understanding is, that the scrubbing is for making sure there is no material below the nozzle when it probes the bed height. The nozzle doesn’t have to be clean, only flat on the bottom.

I don’t think that a bit of wear will do any harm.

The X1/P1 series have been rubbing that spot for nearly three years now. No reports of damage that I’ve read. No nozzle failures or premature wear. Coatings wear off the plate, but that is expected.
