I don’t think the design is the reason for stuck/broken filament in the buffer.
Usually the filament itself is the cause.
There are enough post on here that run into this issue, but most of the time brittle (sometimes due to moisture) is the main cause for the broken/stuck pieces.
In 1750hrs of printing I never had broken filament in the buffer.
Just read this post, and you will find some more details on how to disassemble it in case it’s needed.
