Could really use a hand optimizing print settings to reduce print time as much as possible.
i just replaced the 3mf file with the actual 3mf file. didn’t realize i uploaded the gcode earlier!!!
I kind of got myself in a pinch! I was hoping some of you more experienced guys could give me a hand quick.
(i’ve attached the 3mf file is someone could please take a look and help me optimize it… I’d be forever grateful!)

I offered to print my brother a couple hundred keychain charms for an event he has coming up, and I just found out today that I need to leave for work in 2 days. So I have to somehow bang all these prints out ASAP…
With that being said I don’t have much experience at all optimizing print settings.
I’m able to fit 36 of these charms on a single build plate, but the first batch that I printed took 1 day 8 hours!
After changing a few settings I’ve now got the time down to about 23 hours.
Things I changed:
- Turned off ironing
- Set infill to 10%
- Set wall loops to 3
- Set top shell layers to 3
- Set layer hight to 0.20

These are small monkey figurines that are being used as a “charm” to put on your Keychain.
They don’t have to be perfect quality but at least decent, and obviously need to be somewhat durable.
Printing with PETG on a Bambu A1.

You attached the gcode.3mf file. It would be better if you attached the .3mf file.
First thought is getting rid of the base and keeping it all in one color. But of course you would be getting rid of part of the model.
Multicolor bleeds time on every filament change, but it does look like youre optimized for that. You attached the gcode not the 3mf, but as long as there slicer only generated 2 filament changes for you this is ideal (black base, xfer to white, xfer to the reddish, done) Cant really tell if its trying to put extra changes back into black, but its kinda dark, idk.
You could try to empty out the monkey with 2wall/0infill and use a modifier cube up top on the keyring to give it back its 3wall/some-infill
I dont think youll get good results with a 0.6, especially with the text, but thats an option to try to make it probably about 30% faster.
PLA prints faster than PETG. You could knock a layer or two off the text to save some time.

unfortunately the base and letters are mandatory…
hey thanks for the quick reply. i just realized i uploaded the gcode and not the project 3mf file. i just edited the post and linked the real 3mf file.
i set the global layer height to 0.20mm and added a layer height modifier to make it 0.16mm just on the text layers.

I have been in many situations like this…
- Put as many on your build plate as possible, but time the end of the run to sync up with your life. Ex: Start a 6 hour print before you go to sleep, wake up, clear the plate, then start an 8 hour print with more models while you go to work.
- DO NOT use auto arrange, it will limit the number of models you can put on your build plate. Bambu AI is smart… but not that smart.
- Purge less and arrange your purge. Rank the purge multiplyer down by a lot… it doesnt need to be as high as people think it does. But, just as a contingency plan, make sure your lightest filaments are printed with before your printer uses the darker filaments. If you need me to show you how to do this, you know where to find me.
- Do not let people tell you you cannot print a lot or do not have enough time… you do. I had a guy tell me I didn’t have enough experience to print a lot, and that my design was stupid… not quite.

The 3mf was single color / didnt have paint so nothing really to note about the color changes. When you slice make sure it isnt a large number =p
As a comparison, slicing with 3 walls / 10 infill everywhere, see time+mat usage
and with a small modifier over the monkey that overrides to 2wall / 5 infill
Might not be strong enough but thats up to you!
I have some recommendations for you if you want them?
I’m not sure if you’ve already done this but maybe lightning infill?

Sorry for not answering your replies sooner, just been super busy!
So I was able to reduce the time by a lot!
- I reduced the walls and the top layers down to 2
- 10% infill (I’ve tried lightning in the past and it didn’t seem to work well at least on that print I tried it on…)
- Set layer height to 0.24 (added a height modifier for the text layers and set to 0.16)
- Turned off ironing ( I’m not sure if it was still on in the file I uploaded)
That cut the print time from 22 hours down to 13 hours! Then I set printer to Ludacris speed.
I had to print 200 of those models so print time was important!

Now I’m in the middle of printing another 200 of a slightly different model (same idea), and I’ve been running into a bunch of issues.
I created a new Forum post regarding one of the issues I’ve been having with print times, I don’t think it’s got any responses yet though.
After slicing it shows 13 hours in the slicer and the printer, but even when set to Ludacris speed it takes almost 20 hours!
I’ve never ran into this issue before where the estimated printing time was so far off.
Is it possible that setting it to ludicrous speed is actually making the print take longer? The model is not as simple as the ones from this forum post of the monkey, the model has more detail to it, so lots of little moves.
Just a guess, it could be due to the minimum layer time that is set. I have never tried ludicrous speed so I don’t know what settings still apply when used.
Can you show us your settings?
Filament type selection. Select a bambu filament for faster printing, even when printing with another filament brand. Run a test to assure quality. You can check the difference in time by simply changing the filament before slicing. When changing colors, this can change print time dramatically.
