Please remove 1000char restriction on comments to help users

Recently a change has happened in comments and replies on MakerWorld, there is now a 1000character limit, this makes assisting users in need of help very difficult and time consuming.

Additionally, even screenshots have a new size restriction, I had to screenshot this screenshot just to upload it without opening up photoshop, what’s going on? is Bambu having a hardship with server storage space???

@MakerWorld I think people are sick of your character limits

How to say “user error” in less than a thousand characters ? :smirk:

As a timely reminder we also have this

I have noticed this limitation isn’t honoured on the app.

That may have changed recently, but, I often write far too much and the app seems fine with it.

Can’t you also just tell them you’re sending them more help in a chat through the site instead of writing an essay in the comments?

That’s problematic on so many levels, here’s a few:

  1. you could help many users browsing comments avoid issues before they happen or even spread knowledge that goes beyond your own model
  2. what’s the point of keeping the solution or help a secret for only one user and eschewing future users who might also have that problem?
  3. individual user help is a ridiculous expectation, we have lives, families, jobs, and responsibilities outside of maker world, we owe no users anything, which is why it should be made easy to share knowledge with as many as can read it and avoid any abuse by users expecting personal handholding
  4. it’s necessary to dispel misinformation in reviews and comments via a correction as a reply
  5. People will just talk insane smack about your work and others will just think you’re ignoring them and aren’t active or that you don’t have the guts to respond or that the criticism is true, users RARELY if ever update their comments to apologize for being wrong, yes we can report them, but this further bogs down the MW staff having to sift through every minor drama.
  6. Several users report abuse by users via comments and chat, from just plain rudeness, to racism, homophobia, sexism, mysoginy etc. making DMs an expectation just hides these trolls and bigots’ behavior from moderation and others seeing how they behave in comments and communications.

I could go on…

Oh cool, so they probably use client side verification only, and don’t do any server-side checks. yet another security risk that I won’t bother looking into or reporting to them because they don’t care :joy:
