How come, when Im downloading a model from Online Models, even if I choose my printer model (A1) at the top the software still tells me the project file is not for the correct printer?
I have only one printer saved under my user.
Is there any point at all in choosing the printer from the top before selecting the print file?
The printer type is stored in the .3MF file that you are downloading. You will have to select your printer after downloading the file to BS.
Why is there a selection for a printer model at the top of the window then, above the listed print profiles?
Does selecting your printer model from the list, above the available print profiles, before you select a print profile, have any effect?
The print profile of the downloaded model includes the printer it was originally targeted to and that is set on Bambu Studio.
This occurs even if you only have one printer.
It can be annoying, it is for me with 5 printers.
It is just something to put up with.

If you mean the one on the website when selecting the model, yes.
If you have an A1 mini, you select that to reduce the entries in the profile list to those that match.
This is because there may not be a specific profile for the A1 mini due to the parts being too big.
The same is true for profiles designed specifically for the H2 series; those will likely not work due to the parts being too big for any smaller build volume printer.
While some models only have one profile, many have more, sometimes 30 or so.
It just means you can be assured the profile you choose will match your printer.
When I create profiles, I will often create A1 mini-specific ones, as there is less build volume to play with, so you spread parts across more build plates. With bigger printers, you can fit more on a single build plate.

So As I understand it from your answer, - the selection of the printer assures that the listed model is compatible with my printer, but it doesent mean its specifically for my printer.
