Did the poor man’s X1E mods today, resistor mod plus chamber heater mod. Currently printing some PPS-CF at 345 nozzle 65 chamber, waiting for my belts to fall apart ![]()
I do feel like you’re going damage some stuff, or at least make it wear out quicker… but at the same time I love experimentation like this, so carry on!

If my eyes are correct, I see that you soldered a resistor inline with the thermistor. I can’t make out the values clearly. What resister did you use? I think I may try this myself on my P1.
One other question. Did the printer report the corrected value or how did you verify the temp was at 365?
33ohm. The printer can’t/won’t report the correct value since it’s being “tricked” by the resistor, that’s sort of the whole point and how to get around the firmware limitation of 300C on the non -E variants. I verified temp using a second stand alone Type K thermistor.

Blower fans are notoriously noisy. That’s why blow driers and AMD RTX Graphics cards are so loud.
AT 6,000 RPMs, I have to imagine those sound like dueling hair driers. How loud are those two fans?
Honestly they aren’t that loud, once the part cooling fan turns on they just mix in with it. The aux and chamber fans are much louder than the blowers even at 50%
I have constructed a similar modification on my X1C using a
I tucked in a thermocouple probe under the clip for the heating unit and took readings with and without a resistor. (33 ohms 10watt power rating)
one problem was that my probe did not read the same as the set temperature on hte screen. Also things aren’t strictly linear
however a bit of interpolating gives me the following:
with the screen set to 275 the temperature is actually 304. At a setting of 300 the temperature is 333.
the relationship is
temperature to set on screen = (temperature you want + 10.6)/1.45
I had some PLA in the nozzle I used and you could see it boiling so I recon this is something to do cautiously and with a spare nozzle or a specialist one.
I am going to try printing some PPS I bought before I realised my printer couldnt handle it. Wierdly it looks like you can’t get it on hte bambu store anymore.
