Poor Quality When Changing Print Settings

There’s two known issues with this so far:

On my H2D I’ve attempted to change filament types (designer uploaded a PETG profile, but I wanted PLA) and it never turns out well. It seems like despite it “slicing” it doesn’t actually change any material settings. I quickly learned that if I want to use a different material (even something like PLA silk instead of PLA basic) I need to open my computer, download the model, and slice myself. If I attempt to print a model with the wrong material in Studio or through the printer’s memory, you get an error. So why doesn’t the Handy app stop you as well? Why even give you the option to pick the wrong material?

Now with my H2C it also asks me what nozzle size I’d like to use. As you can imagine the same issue occurs. A model uploaded with a 0.4mm nozzle, but selected a 0.2mm nozzle, doesn’t change the print time and quality is horrible (see photos). It’s clear that it’s using the 0.4mm nozzle settings on a 0.2mm nozzle. Again, if it allows selecting a different nozzle size than what was originally sliced for, and the online “slicing” doesn’t actually change any settings, then why offer the ability to select the wrong nozzle size?

Bottom is using the Handy app with a 0.2mm nozzle. The top was downloaded to studio, has no settings changes outside of slicing with a 0.2mm nozzle. See the link below (photos are too large to post directly)

The printer does not slice. It only executes the g-code created by the slicer on your computer or the Makerworld server. Any changes in settings, materials, or nozzles must be made before the model is sliced.

On busy days when attempting to send a print from Handy to your printer, it puts you in a queue for cloud slicing. Besides that, if using Bambu Studio or printing from the printer’s memory, it will error out or straight up not let you select the wrong material/nozzle. So why does it allow you to do this in Handy?


Handy is a childs toy, made to appease the helpless phone people; to provide a screen to set p1s ams filaments; a camera feed; and that is it. Use the slicer natively IMO if you care even 1 nanometer about quality
