Possible Feature Request / Slight Complaint

The A1 is capable of 5 frames per second. in fact, even if you timelapse it, you will see on your sd card that it has camlogger (forgot exact folder name) that shows the video at 5 fps.

MY QUESTION IS: why are we restricted to 1 fps every 2-3 seconds on the camfeed when viewing via Bambu Handy / Bambu Studio? the quality on the camera itself isn’t the best, so, it should be viable to allow the camfeed to go to 5fps

it’s upsetting one of the better features (not the best, never will say its the best) is being locked behind an arbitrary code. it would take more to record @ 5fps, then encode it, then store it on the sd card, than it would to transmit the 5fps data through to the client (phone or computer)

REQUEST: PLEASE allow us to view the 5fps on Bambu Handy / Bambu Studio!

Like or not but your request was made plenty of time before and for almost all camera equipped printers that came out on a more or less budget level.

But let’s stick with Bambu here…
The printer and app/Studio need to communicate.
And while your Wifi probably won’t even start to sweat sending a few 4K videos back and forth in the network: The hardware in our printers is rather dirt cheap in this vital department…

It starts with the mainboards that handle basically everything these days.
A cheap WiFi module with an even cheaper means getting creative to at least ensure the printer is able to get acceptable signal levels.
All this computing of movements, on the fly calculations and all this require a certain amount of computing power.
That chip to store or send a few pic per second for a low resolution camera only cost a few cents - literally in those volumes.
The corresponding date though goes through the same encrypted connection Studio and the app use.
On top of that the transfer capabilities while the SD card is being accessed for the G-code to print is rather limited as well by nature.

Having said all that and hopefully making enough sense in this short form you now probably and rightfully wonder why Bambu does not simply use a capable Wifi or Ethernet enabled camera instead…
As said other companies were there long before Bambu even popped up.
Providing a 2A USB port to power the cam or the more common 12V supply and few hundred milliamps for the camera would cost basically nothing.
Offering enough space, a window of sorts to support the most common small surveillance and monitoring cams out there would only add a few bucks per printer.
Make the camera modules you support this way and optional extra and rest assured people are happy to pay a few bucks more than what that camera is worth just for having it put in place and ready to go with the printer…
So why are there only a few manufacturers out there offering something like this and almost all them catering for more or less industrial use?

We can of course only speculate here as so far no manufacturer on our price levels ever stated and viable reasons when being asked about this CHOICE they keep making with these useless cameras…

IF you really badly want or need a proper camera feed then check what is out there in terms of IP cameras.
Just a random quick pick but am sure there is even cheaper or more capable cameras out there: Random Ebay link
As you can see those things are tiny enough to fit into our machines with relative ease.
Here is an even smaller one for far less money…
A USB wall wart and slimline USB cable only cost a few bucks.
Sure, one has do some homework, check Youtube reviews or such where possible to get a cheap IP camera that performs as advertised…
But even some hardware stores sell them these days…
Security can be an issue for cameras only offering a WiFi hotspot to connect to or that use little to no security for the wireless connection - buyer beware and pay attention to the listed network security features!
For an investment of less than 50 bucks you could have a quality full HD video feed you can view or record in any way you like.
And if you use a powerboard or such that has a switch you can turn cam and printer off in one go when not in use - a clear win win situation if you ask me and better than anything Bambu is able to provide…
Just saying

You make great points. And have given me food for thought.
