Possible to repair the 4-pin port?

Over the past year I’ve consistently had AMS connectivity issues. I recently replaced all the electronic components in the AMS and that seemed to improve my issue.

However, in the past 24 hours I’ve begun having issues again with the AMS disconnecting and I’m finding that barely wiggling the 4-pin bus port on the back of my X1C immediately reconnects it.

So, it would seem I may have an issue with that port.

I recently replaced the bus cables so they’re less than a month old, meaning they likely aren’t the culprit.

Any hope in repairing that port? What part would I even be looking for?

(My X1C itself is two years old as is the AMS.)

If you are handy with a soldering iron, take the board out and reflow the solder on the connector pins. You’ve probably cracked one of them loose.

Be aware there is a cable between the MC board and the rear of printer. (Replacement here)


Bambu doesn’t seem to have a listing for a replacement AMS rear port sub board but taking it out and inspecting the solder points and connector would be a good idea.

This is the AMS Connector Board…should that have solder on it?

It normally is soldered on the bottom side of the board. Solder will often wick up to the top side of the board, which is what you are seeing on the right pin in the picture.

Solder joints can crack but be very difficult to see without magnification. If you’re having connection issues then I would suggest reflowing the connections as mentioned above by @mugglesmuggle while you have to board out.

Yup, that’s the bad one, it’s loose. If you are feeling meticulous you could pick out all of that black goop so it’s doesn’t contaminate the joint. Personally I’d use some flux and more solder, but you could try just reheating from the other side.
