Sorry, I didn’t know exactly where to post this. Any guidance would be appreciated.
I have an X1 and after I posted a profile, someone asked if I could post an A1 profile. How do I do that?
Should be same model. They just need to slice it for the A1 in Studio.
The A1 should be compatible. A1 mini maybe?
Sorry, I thought I was answering OP.
Thanks for the reply.
But it is something THEY would do, correct? I can’t post a profile for an A1?
Someone with an A1 would just load the profile and then change the Printer in their Studio?
Yes, you shouldn’t have to mess with it. They could be a new user and just not understand. You may earn Karma Points by respectfully telling them that.
Indeed or even just selected the A1 printer on their handy app. Can you share the link of the print profile?
The rules changed recently and this might be part of the issue.
The current rules, based on which printer you targeted when creating the profile:
- P or X series = A1, P & X series printers (possibly the A1 mini) †
- A1 = A1 & A1 mini (possibly X & P series)
- A1 mini = All current printers.
Before the recent change, those shown above † as ‘possibly’ didn’t occur.
Those marked as ‘possibly’ occur when the models in the build-plates are not larger than the other printer’s build-plates.
It is worth remembering the printers have different build volumes, shown in largest to smallest.
- A1
- X & P series ††
- A1 mini
†† The X & P series printers have a notch on the corner which is inaccessible without changes made to the printer. This means the A1 is the largest as it does not have this.
You can make the change to support the A1 mini
If you created your profile before this change and created it for the X series, the A1 mini profile would not have been automatically generated. It will do now if you reslice the file and re-upload the profile.
Clarification
You stated the question was A1-related, however, that would have been supported automatically, so I assume the person making the request was talking about the A1 mini profile.
Future
MW have said they will go back and update older profiles, but, as that will be a massive task, I imagine it will take a significant amount of time.
Just to complete the thought. The person was asking for an A1 mini profile. The outlet plate is only 133mm so it should fit on the A1 mini build plate.
As I determined from the information provided and the rules previously applied.
Important
As I mentioned previously, if you uploaded the profile over a week ago, no automatic A1 mini support would have been added.
You will need to re-slice the profile and replace the one you previously uploaded with the new one.
When it asks if you have changed the geometry, you can say no as you have not change the model geometry, only the slicing.
