PPA-CF bed adhesion magic (ASA Raft)

To whomever suggested using an ABS (or in my case an ASA) raft to improve bed adhesion – I am forever greatful.

The ASA kinda sticks to the PEI plate a bit, and the PPA-CF kinda sticks to the ASA a bit.

I’m about 4 hours into a 10 hour functional print, and no peeling or warping to be seen.
I had 3 print failures before I tried the raft suggestion.

Of course there’s always the standard list of prereqs:

  • dry the filament
  • clean the build plate
  • 6.5mm^3/s max volumetric speed
  • 100c build plate
  • 60c heated chamber
  • print at 290c
  • a spritz of aquanet extra super hold on a cold plate for at little extra

This stuff is kinda a pain to get set up, but I’m getting great parts. And that Siraya Tech Fibreheart PPA-CF Core Filament? It’s pricey but it’s very nice. Definitely a smoother finish than their non core version.

I never had any adhesion issue with PPA-CF. You just need some glue and then you’re fine.

You can go 110C build plate, and the chamber temp should go for 65C.

Print should be >300C. I print at 320C-340C.

ASA is a nice support material that’s for sure

On my Darkmoon CFX, I don’t need any glue for PPA to adhere properly — but as you know, I usually apply some anyway, just to be safe.

The smooth PEI also works fine for me with Siraya Tech PPA-CF.
No glue required.

The textured PEI already started peeling off in the first couple of layers.

Smooth PEI plates always have better adhesion than textured. Textured was designed for better release of model (TPU/PETG).

Glacier/Cryonix type plates are probably the best for this use as they were made specifically for nylons. I print PPA on mine with no adhesives.

I also print цшер PPA on textured plate with absolutely no issues whatsoever, i never used glue
