Previously flawless model now showing consistent banding

I have 2 P1S, both printers used to make prints like this. Flawless and no layer lines…

However, for the last few prints, I started getting these banding artifacts when printed on black filament. There’s no roughness to the surface, it’s only discoloration.

I’m using Elegoo Rapid PLA+ black. Tried multiple spools, still the same. All spools were dried for 8 hours at 50C prior.

Could this have been caused by a batch of bad spools? It’s all aesthetic as I don’t feel any roughness.

It just perplexes me why the same slicer file, that worked flawlessly before, all of a sudden exhibits the same kind of artifact on 2 different printers.

Do your preventative maintenance: clean the CF rods, lube the metal rods, clean and re-grease the Z screws, tighten belts. If that doesn’t do it, try a new hot-end, your nozzle may be wearing out a little…

This is happening on 2 separate printers. Both have had nozzle cleaned recently. One of them had the belt adjusted recently.

The only common denominator is both are printing with the same batch of Elegoo PLA.

Well, if the filament diameter is not well controlled, the flow rate will change and that might manifest as visible layer lines… so bad filament could possibly explain it. Variations in filament diameter isn’t an unheard of problem.
