Print defect when printing multiple of the same item

Hi All,

First of all my printer details are as follows: P1P, 0.2mm nozzle, printing at 0.08mm profile, print speed of outer wall 30mms

I am printing these kettlebell keyrings and when I print about 3 on a plate they print just fine. Then when I print more than that I start getting defects on the overhang. I have been playing around with the cooling thresholds, but it doesn’t seem to help. Can anyone help?

I have attached an image of a perfectly printed on showing the bottom is fine and then a build plate of multiple that have a defect band on it.

PS it is definitely not build plate adhesion

Welcome to the forum.

I’ve been down this road before and my findings seem to point to the parts having issues with overhangs because they cool more when printing large batches. Then printing one or a couple the part remains about the same temperature as it consistently has hot filament applied to it. When printing a large batch the length of time between when layers are printer for each part is much larger. This “heat cycling” seem to cause issues with overhangs.

In my case I was printing parts with threads and the overhangs were causing issue. My solution was to group a couple parts together and print groups by object. So the print is set up to print 4 parts in each corner of the bed. These groups print one after another. For me 4-5 parts seemed to be the difference between overhangs being successful and having issues. There may be a better way but this is what worked for me.

That is actually a very smart solution i will try that for now

Tested it last night thank you it works well. I can atleast print 8 to 10 at a time now. I was not aware you can group the objects together to be seen as one object.
