Hey guys, im printing a bowl from Makerworld and im having some issues with the print. Sadly two prints had the same problem.
i linked an unlisted video from youtube so you can understand what the issue is. Both of them have the same pattern and i have no idea what to do with this. Bad prints on A1 mini
I printed in both Silk and Basic PLA and both exhibit the same patern on the -X scale…
You can actually hear the extruder not goin in a normal transit over that left area.
The silk bowl in your hand looks like it could be wet filament issues.
It is hard to tell what that clicking is, perhaps an A1 user will have more insight, but again, if wet filament you could be getting to a point where infill crossovers are creating highpoints that are getting slammed into which can break the adhesion and lead to failed prints.
I don’t expect warping but you could verify that the bottom layers are staying flat throughout the print.
I know about the silk pla needing drying before print, im ok with that. What my actual problem is, the one printing is PLA basic and it has the same patten in the same spots. And moreover the printer trembles when it prints around that area. I did the bed calibration first hand before print and the bed is trammed already. Im thinking something along the XZ axis? But its only on the outer shell. the inner shell is normal printed with a smooth motion…
I see now how the bowl is all broken up on the back side with a square tooth pattern I guess you could call it. Seems like it is just speeding along through that area, perhaps some speeds need to be tuned down.
Link the original design please so others are able to look at it.
So what you can do is match all the speeds for overhangs and outer wall, it’s not the best solution and will take a bit longer to print but this geometry has some weird stuff going on:
Also, if the result estimated time is getting too high you can add a modifier cylinder and only change the speeds for the modifier that would go about as high as my screenshot shows, no need to go higher as the overhang made by the fillet on the bottom of the bowl stops about there…
Edit: I’m using Bambu Studio v1.9, I’m not updating for a while because I see many issues posted about the new version. Your video appears to show this jagged motion above the overhang area, but it doesn’t matter really, just use the speed view mode to verify you have smooth speeds on the outer wall.
Honestly? I’d just add supports and sand it down afterwards. Remember to keep the surface wet with some water as you sand it and to wear an N95 to avoid breathing in the plastic dust.
Yeah, not sure what to say there, all those zits do not align with the internal infill walls as far as I can tell so no idea where they are coming from unless its still a speed change issue.
I have figured it out… the guy who made the design did a poor job at designing that pot. Ive tested out my printer and it prints perfectly. Turns out, when he made the design he made the cutouts first, and then covered the back side with a shape. The pattern of the zits exactly follow the cutouts to the point. Test and proof
There are comments on that profile that show the same pattern as i had.
You can actually see the flaw in the Studio prepare tab if you put a bright colour on the object.
Thank you all for all the help, it stressed me out more than it should’ve
