Print not tall as it should be

What version of the slicer? What FW in the printer?

What does the slicer preview look like?

I tried on 2 different printers (both x1-C). Replaced the extruder and nozzle. When I slice a single part, it works fine. Problem is when I clone 100 of thethe part onto a sheet and print it. Does it both in Orca and Bambu studio. I have printed this before with no problem. Observing the print, it just stops extruding halfway through the print, but the printhead keeps going. Tried manually extruding the filament after stopping the failed print and it works fine

Sorry, lots of questions:

  1. Do they appear to be the correct height after cloning 100 of them on the build plate?
  2. What happens if you just clone it 25 or 50 times?
  3. Do you have any pauses, etc inserted at that height?
  4. Is this part of your design or something you have downloaded? You could try making a new project and start with a fresh model file to see if there is something strange going on in the model file.

4 my design, it is not a problem in the model, if I print a single part it comes out correct. When I print 100, it stops extruding about halfway through the print. If I manually extruded immediately after the print finishes, it extrudes fine

Question, are you using the default filament profile?

Yes, and I have done this print successfully several times in the past. BTW it is polycarbonate I am printing

Everything look stable with the nozzle temp while it’s printing? It’s not dropping right before it stops extruding or anything?

Yes, nozzle temp is good, just stops extruding

Roll back to an older version of the slicer and see if it still does it.

Rotate the part on the built plate and see if it still does it.

Confirm - the slicer preview does not show the problem, if you scroll through the layers they all get printed (virtually)?

This is a tough one. It happened to me once. Not on a 100 but just 1 of a model. It would get to the same layer each time and just stop extruding… the printer would keep going but nothing was coming out. It took me quite a while to figure out I was using a high flow profile with a normal nozzle. I guess it would try and keep up with the flow but when it couldn’t the extruder would just start stripping out the filament and stop extruding.

The weird thing with yours is it does it on two different printers, and it worked previously. Did you ever try less clones?

That’s actually a good idea. Maybe something is running out of memory with the large number of clones. A bug in the printer FW no one’s found yet. So the file goes to the printer correctly but when the printer parses it to start printing, it screws up somehow, overruns a memory bound and uses bad data that stops the extruder.

No printer FW updates or slicer updates between when it worked and when it didn’t?

I doubt it will matter, but trying another SD card might do something…

Nope and I don’t have an sd card. Tried on 2 different printers

Yes I printed this sheet multiple times. I will just reduce/rearrange the sheet. Probably a firmware bug. I have seen a bunch of bugs in the firmware. Have not updated the FW because I don’t want to loose Orca compatibility. The only feature I use in Orca that Bambu studio lacks is controlling the fan on the interface layer

Orca has an option called “Precise Z height”.

I don’t know if Bambu does and I’m not sure if it will help; but it wouldn’t hurt to try a test print.

That said some filaments/materials do “shrink” a bit but nearly 2mm is pretty dramatic…
